International Film Series: Aurora’s Sunrise

March 6 @ 7:00 pm

Armenia’s official submission for the 2023 Academy Awards. At 14, Aurora Madriganian survived the horrors of the Armenian Genocide and escaped to New York, where her story became a media sensation. Her newfound fame led to her starring as herself in the 1919 silent film Auction of Souls, based on her life. Aurora’s Sunrise blends animation, video testimony and archival footage from Madriganian’s silent epic to re-tell her story. This event is a collaboration with POV, the award-winning independent non-fiction film series on PBS: www.pbs.org/pov
